A property owner, manager, or other authorized contact should decide what may be removed. A hauler should not determine ownership or legal abandonment.
Keep a dated inventory
Photograph the rooms and list the approved items before work begins. Store notices and tenant communications with the property file, not in the removal pile.
Separate records and sensitive items
Set aside documents, keys, medication, devices, and personal records for the authorized property contact. Do not place them with ordinary debris.
Match timing to the turnover plan
Coordinate the cleanout with inspections, repairs, cleaning, and the next occupancy milestone. Do not promise a legally compliant eviction process through a removal service.
Cleanout planning checklist
Know what needs another disposal route
Paint, chemicals, fuels, medical waste, pressurized containers, and other regulated materials should not be mixed into an ordinary moving cleanout. The City of Redlands excludes household hazardous waste and electronic waste from its bulky-item collection program. Check the responsible local authority for current options.
Send useful photos and a real deadline
Take one wide photo per room, then close photos of large or unusual items. State when the property must be clear and whether that deadline is tied to a lease handoff, sale, cleaning appointment, or moving-truck departure.
